Make A Simchat Torah Flag

In many communities around the world, children bring a Simchat Torah flag to the synagogue. They wave it while they dance around the Torah.

Introduction

Ingredients

  • Wood dowels

  • Paper

  • Duct tape

  • Watercolors 

  • Oil pastels

  • Glue

  • Glitter

  • Pompoms

  • Confetti 

Preparation

Step 1


Paint your flag with the watercolors.



Step 2


When the paint is dry, add some designs with the oil pastels.



Step 3


Some people like to draw a Torah or a crown on their flag.



Step 4


You can write, “Simchat Torah,” or "תורה שמחת” on your flag. 



Step 5


You can glue some glitter, pompoms, and confetti on it to make it look even more festive.



Step 6


Tape the flag to the dowel with duct tape.
