Pick Some Fruits and Vegetables!

Sukkot is the celebration of the harvest. There is a Jewish custom of sharing the bounty of one’s crops with the poor called 'pe’ah' (the corners of the field).

Introduction

The source of this custom is Leviticus 19:9-10, which says:

“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap all the way to the edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall not pick your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.”

Ingredients

A fun outing for the whole family is to go to a farm or orchard and pick some fresh fruit or vegetables.

Donate them to the poor by giving them to a food pantry! In this way, you can share the bounty of 'your harvest', and have some family fun while doing it.
