Chocolate-Dipped Heart-Shaped Cookies

Every celebration is better with some freshly baked desserts. Chocolate is traditional for the day of love.

Introduction

Bake some heart shaped cookies, and then dip them in melted chocolate. You can make them look extra festive with some candy sprinkles or chopped nuts.

Ingredients

Adapted from Sally’s Baking Addiction

  • 2 1/4 cups flour 

  • 3/4 cups sugar 

  • ¼ tsp. salt 

  • ½ tsp. baking powder 

  • ¾ cup butter 

  • 2 ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract 

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil 

  • 1 egg 

Preparation

Step 1


Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. 



Step 2


Place the dough between 2 pieces of parchment paper 



Step 3


Roll out the dough with a rolling pin. 



Step 4


Refrigerate the dough for 2 hours. 



Step 5


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (176 degrees Celsius). 



Step 6


Use heart-shaped cookie molds or a knife to cut out the cookies. 



Step 7


Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.



Step 8


Bake for about 15 minutes, until golden-brown. 



Step 9


Remove from the oven, and allow to cool. 



To Decorate 


Step 1


Melt some chocolate chips in a double boiler. 



Step 2


Dip each cookie in some chocolate. 



Step 3


Scatter some sprinkles or chopped nuts over the melted chocolate. 



Step 4


Allow the chocolate to harden.
